Bara Telecommunications Networking, in its effort to enhance the quality of education in Botswana and provide teachers with the best teaching and learning experiences, hosted a workshop in conjunction with the Ministry of Basic Education at Tlokweng Education Center. The workshop, held on the 23rd of May 2024, focused on Empowering Education Digitally and explored strategies, tools, and best practices for modern classrooms. Participants learned about innovative digital teaching methods, the effective use of learning management systems, and integrating assistive technologies. The session aimed to equip educators with the skills needed to create engaging, interactive, and inclusive learning environments, ultimately enhancing educational outcomes and student engagement in today’s digital age.
The workshop saw the participation of 33 junior and 6 senior secondary schools, each represented by one teacher from the science department. These educators were provided with electronic digital content for demonstration purposes to support their teaching in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and agriculture. The event underscored the importance of integrating multimedia resources and digital content into teaching methodologies to create more dynamic and effective educational experiences.
The Ministry of Education participated through several key departments, including the Curriculum Development Department and the Teacher Training and Support Department. The venue for this significant event was the Tlokweng Education Center. The workshop was officially opened by the Acting Director of Curriculum Development, Mrs. Khulmann, who emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging digital resources to enrich the curriculum and support educators in delivering high-quality education.
